REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove display module.    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR54.30-P-6023FR
2 Remove center console.    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR68.20-P-2000FR
3 Remove head unit (A26/17) for Audio 20 NTG 5.5 radio.    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   IMPORTANT The head unit (26/17) for the Audio 20 NTG 5.5 radio is no longer required. AR82.85-P-1101FR
4 Remove front passenger seat.    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR91.10-P-1000FR
5 Remove floor covering at front on front    
  passenger side.    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR68.80-P-0008FR
6 Remove ventilation duct (4).    
7 Remove footrest (3).    
8 Release A-pillar fuse box on front passenger side (F1/3).    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR54.15-P-1312FR
9 Remove Audio/COMAND control panel (A40/9).    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   IMPORTANT The Audio/COMAND control panel (A40/9) is no longer required. AR54.21-P-0504FR
10 Remove driver seat. Model 257.### 1#  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR91.10-P-1000FR
11 Release rear floor covering (5) on left side and fold to one side until the cable ducts (6) are accessible.    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR68.80-P-0003FR
12 Open cable ducts (6) from center console up    
  to entrance on rear passenger compartment.    
INSTALLING Install     
13 Retrofit wiring harness for touchpad in center console area.    
REFER TO BASIC KNOWLEDGE     GF00.19-P-3005-14XBA
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR00.19-P-0100-09A
      AN82.60-P-0017-04FR 
    IMPORTANT Fix touchpad wiring harness in place only after routing all retrofit wiring harnesses.
Repair wiring harness using end sleeve.
 
    Location of end sleeves in vehicle interior at left.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Left center console ground point *BA00.19-P-1011-02D 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Electromagnetic compatibility ground point (touchpad) BA00.19-P-1029-02D 
    SPECIAL TOOL New passenger car wiring harness repair kit Fig 2
    SPECIAL TOOL Wiring harness repair kit, basic Fig 6
    SPECIAL TOOL Welding bead catcher Fig 1
    SPECIAL TOOL Wire stripper Fig 4
    SPECIAL TOOL Reflector Fig 5
    SPECIAL TOOL Adapter Fig 3
14 Retrofit touchpad.   AN82.60-P-0017-03LWE 
15 Retrofit wiring harness for touchpad.   AN82.60-P-0017-01FR 
16 Install new Audio/COMAND control panel (A40/9).    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR54.21-P-0504FR
    IMPORTANT Install Audio/COMAND control panel  
    (A40/9) in center console cover.  
17 Retrofit electrical wiring harness for instrument cluster. IMPORTANT Fix electrical wiring harness for instrument cluster in place only after routing all retrofit AN82.85-P-0009-06FR 
    wiring harnesses.  
18 Fix routed retrofit wiring harnesses in place using cable ties.    
19 Install footrest (3).    
20 Install ventilation duct (4).    
21 Insert fuse with fuse rating of 5 A into slot MF3.

22 Install floor covering at front on front passenger side.

23 Install driver seat. Model 257.### 1#

24 Install front passenger seat.    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR91.10-P-1000FR
25 Install new head unit (A26/17).    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR82.85-P-1101FR
26 Install remaining parts.    
  Update Vehicle Documentation (VeDoc)     
27 Delete special equipment in online vehicle data card. IMPORTANTCode 506 (Audio 20 USB).   
28 Delete special equipment in online vehicle data card. Model 257 with code 355 (Pre-installation for navigation retrofit), model 257 with code 357  
    (Map navigation) 
IMPORTANTCode 355 (Pre-installation for 
navigation retrofit).

29 Enter special equipment into online vehicle data card. IMPORTANTCode 448 (Touchpad) 
Code 531 (COMAND APS). 
Code 08U (Vehicle setup).

Code 16U (Smartphone Integration Carplay).

30 Attach "COMAND APS retrofitted in accordance with AN82.85-P-0009FR" note under field organization texts to design group 54 and design group 82.    
31 Connect diagnostic system and select vehicle using vehicle identification number (VIN).

32 Perform variant coding using the software calibration number (SCN). IMPORTANTRear SAM. 
Instrument cluster. 
Head unit. 
HERMES control unit. 
Electronic ignition lock control unit 
Control unit for climate control. 
IMPORTANT Model 257 with code 640 (Dynamic SAE right-hand traffic LED headlamp), model 257 with code 641 (Dynamic left-hand traffic LED headlamp), model 257 with code 642 (Dynamic right-hand traffic LED headlamp) Headlamp control unit.
IMPORTANT Model 257 with code 235 (Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC)
Parking system control unit. 
IMPORTANT Model 257 with code 233 (DISTRONIC PLUS)
Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive control unit. 
 
33 Disconnect diagnostic system.    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-06FR
INSPECT Check     
34 Perform function test. IMPORTANT See Owner's Manual.
