Retrofit Wiring Harness For Front Illuminated Mercedes Star - AZ88.40-P-0011-01LWI

  1. Beginning with the black 2-pin plug (1.1), use cable ties to attach spring clips (3.1, 3.2) to illuminated Mercedes star wiring harness (2).

    IMPORTANT 3.1 = 240 mm (9.45 inches)

    3.2 = 35 mm (1.38 inches)

  2. Beginning at the red line (rt), use cable ties to attach spring clips (3.3) to the illuminated Mercedes star wiring harness (2).

    IMPORTANT 3.3 = 35 mm (1.38 inches)

  3. Attach spring clip (3.4) loosely to the red line (rt) using cable tie.
  4. Attach spring clips (3.5, 3.6, 3.7) loosely to the brown line (br) using cable tie.
  5. Connect black 2-pin plug (1.1) of illuminated Mercedes star (1) with black 2-pin contact socket (2.1) of illuminated Mercedes star wiring harness (2).
  6. Route illuminated Mercedes star wiring harness (2) through opening of radiator grille to left lamp unit.

    IMPORTANT Model 253 with code 258 (Active Brake Assist) or with code 233 (adaptive cruise control plus (DISTRONIC PLUS)

    The wiring harness from the illuminated Mercedes star (1) to the spring clip (3.1) shall be routed behind the Active Brake Assist controller unit (A108) or the Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC electric controller unit (A108/1).

  7. Install illuminated Mercedes star (1).
  8. Slightly tension wiring harness, starting from illuminated Mercedes star (1), and attach spring clip (3.1).

  9. Route red line (rt) from the illuminated Mercedes star wiring harness (2) further to the left lamp unit and attach to the hood catch support using spring clips (3.2, 3.3).

  10. Route red line (rt) from the illuminated Mercedes star wiring harness (2) beneath the left hood catch and attach the spring clip (3.4) to the hood catch support.

    NOTES Ensure chafe-free routing of illuminated Mercedes star wiring harness (2).

    If this is not done, damage to the illuminated Mercedes star wiring harness (2) and an associated system failure may occur.

  11. Tighten the cable tie for the spring clip (3.4).
  12. Route red line (rt) from the illuminated Mercedes star wiring harness (2) along the hood cable to the engine fuse and relay module (K40/8).

  13. Attach the red line (rt) from the illuminated Mercedes star wiring harness along the hood cable using cable ties.
  14. Route red line (rt) of the illuminated Mercedes star wiring harness through the bore previously made in the holder (5) to the engine fuse and relay module (K40/8).
  15. Insert grommet (2.2) of illuminated Mercedes star wiring harness (2) in the bore previously made in the holder (5).

    IMPORTANT Make sure that grommet (2.2) is seated correctly.

  16. Remove blue 10-pin contact socket (6) from engine fuse and relay module (K40/8).
  17. Install red line (rt) in contact cavity "10" (arrow B) of blue 10-pin contact socket (6).
  18. Install blue 10-pin contact socket (6) in engine fuse and relay module (K40/8).
  19. Install engine fuse and relay module (K40/8) in holder (5).

    IMPORTANT Ensure correct seating of grommet (2.2) as well as correct routing of red line (rt).

  20. Insert fuse with a fuse rating of 5 A in slot "f122" (arrow C).

  21. Route brown line (br) of the illuminated Mercedes star wiring harness (2) from the black 2-pin contact socket (2.1) to the right lamp unit.
  22. Attach brown line (br) along with the illuminated Mercedes star wiring harness (2) to the spring clips (3.1, 3.2, 3.3) on the front-end assembly.

  23. Route brown line of the illuminated Mercedes star wiring harness (2) further below the right hood catch and attach to the hood catch support using spring clips (3.5, 3.6, 3.7).

    NOTES Be sure that the brown line (br) is routed so that it is chafe-free.

    If this is not done, damage to the brown line (br) and an associated system failure may occur.

  24. Tighten the cable ties for the spring clips (3.5, 3.6, 3.7).

  25. Route brown line (br) further to the jump-start connection point ground point 4).
  26. Connect brown line (br) to the jump-start connection point ground point (4) TORQUE SPECIFICATION .
  27. Strap down extended length of the brown line (br) and use a spring clip (3.8) to attach it to the front-end assembly.
