- Clean front bumper in crosshatched area.
- Model 253 except code P23 (EXCLUSIVE exterior)
except code P31 (AMG Line exterior)
except code U89 (OFF-ROAD Exterior)
Apply primer to bumper in crosshatched area.
Observe processing notes for primer.
- Align underride guard (1) with front bumper and mark position with adhesive strips (2).
- Cut adhesive strips (2).
Carefully cut adhesive strips (2) with suitable knife. Damage can otherwise occur.
- Slightly remove protective foils (3) of adhesive strips at end and center, and bend 45° towards outer edge of underride guard (1).
- Position underride guard (1) on front bumper according to adhesive strips attached.
- Starting at center of underride guard (1), pull off protective foils (3) in increments of 45 to 20 cm as far as outer edges of underride guard (1), and press on underride guard (1).
When pressing on, press directly on adhesive strips on underride guard (1). Otherwise there may be adhesion problems.
The maximum adhesive strength is only reached after approx. 72 h at 20°C. Prevent any mechanical stress. Avoid any contact with moisture (e.g. rain, fog, carwash) within the first 24 h.
- Remove adhesive strips from underride guard (1) and front bumper.
- Drill 6 mm holes according to present hole pattern on underride guard (1).
- Install expansion rivets (4) on underride guard (1).
The expansion rivets (4) are included in the parts kit.
