Replace Radial Shaft Sealing Ring On Drive Pinion - AR35.31-P-0531LWC

CAUTION Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of transmission oil. Health risk caused by swallowing transmission oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not pour transmission oil into beverage bottles.		 AS00.40-Z-0001-01A
WARNING Risk of injury.  Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
REMOVING Remove     
1 Detach propeller shaft (2) from joint flange (3) of rear axle differential (1) and secure by suitable means to prevent it from falling. Transmission 725.0 in model 205 with code 700 (Vehicle production location China) AR41.10-P-0050LW
    Transmission 725.0 in model 253 (except 253.992/993)

MEASURING Measure     
2 Measure friction torque on drive pinion and note down.   AR35.31-P-0530-04CWC 
    SPECIAL TOOL Socket wrench bit Fig 2
    SPECIAL TOOL Adapter Fig 6
    SPECIAL TOOL Torque meter Fig 5
3 Detach joint flange (3).   AR35.31-P-0550-06CWC 
    SPECIAL TOOL Adapter Fig 6
    SPECIAL TOOL Puller Fig 1
    SPECIAL TOOL Pin wrench Fig 4
    SPECIAL TOOL Socket wrench bit Fig 2
4 Pry radial shaft sealing ring (5) out of rear axle differential (1) using suitable tool. INSTALLING
Do not damage the sitting surface of the radial shaft sealing ring (5).
Otherwise leaks will occur at the rear axle differential (1).		  
CLEAN Clean     
5 Clean seat of radial shaft sealing ring (5) in rear axle differential (1) using a clean, lint-free rag and assembly cleaner. NOTES
The seat of the radial shaft sealing ring (5) in the rear axle differential (1) must be free of oil and dirt.
Otherwise leaks will occur at the rear axle differential (1).
NOTES
Assembly cleaner must not enter the rear axle differential (1).
Otherwise the rear axle differential (1) will be damaged.		  
    Assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
INSPECT Check     
6 Check seat of radial shaft sealing ring (5) in rear axle differential (1) for damage. If damage is found,
↓
Replace rear axle differential (1).		  
    Transmission 725.0 in model 205 (except 205.386/387/486/487), 253 (except
253.388/389/988/989)
with code 700 (Vehicle production location China)		 AR35.31-P-0520LW 
INSTALLING Install     
7 Apply universal hypoid gear oil to sealing lip of new radial shaft sealing ring (5).    
REFER TO CAPACITIES & SPECIFICATIONS Universal hypoid gear oils (specification 235.7   BB00.40-P-0235-07A
8 Install new radial shaft sealing ring (5) in rear axle differential (1) using drift. SPECIAL TOOL Drift Fig 3
9 Adjust friction torque of drive pinion bearing.   AR35.31-P-0550-17CWC 
    NOTES
It is essential to perform all operation steps listed in the description and to observe all instructions.
Otherwise there will be noise development and damage to the rear axle differential (1).

10 Attach propeller shaft (2) to joint flange (3) of rear axle differential (1). Transmission 725.0 in model 205

INSPECT Check     
11 Check oil level in rear axle differential (1) and correct if necessary. Transmission 725.0 in model 205 (except 205.386/387/486/487).

12 Check rear axle differential (1) for leak tightness.
