Remove/Install Ring Magnet Of Trailer Hitch - AR31.19-P-1600LW

DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

REMOVING Remove     
1 Swivel out trailer hitch.    
2 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmitter range (min. 2 m).    
3 Raise vehicle.   AR00.60-P-1006A
4 Remove cap of trailer hitch.    
5 Release catch hook at positioning ring (1) of trailer hitch using a suitable tool.    
6 Remove positioning ring (1).    
7 Release and disconnect electrical connection (3).    
8 Remove electrical wiring harness (2). SPECIAL TOOL Dismantling tool Fig 1
9 Disconnect electric lines from plug housing (4).    
10 Secure pull-through device to electrical wiring harness (2). IMPORTANT The pull-through device is used to thread in the electrical wiring harness (2).  
11 Turn ring magnet (5) of trailer hitch through 90° counterclockwise and remove with electrical wiring harness (2). IMPORTANT The pull-through device remains in the trailer hitch.  
12 Remove pull-through device from electrical wiring harness (2).    
INSTALLING Install     
13 Attach pull-through device to electrical wiring harness (2). IMPORTANT Replace ring magnet (5) of trailer hitch.  
14 Install electrical wiring harness (2) with ring magnet (5) of trailer hitch. NOTES Check that the ring magnet (5) of the trailer hitch is correctly positioned.
Otherwise the positioning ring (1) cannot be installed correctly and will be damaged.
IMPORTANT The notch of the ring magnet (5) of the trailer hitch must be horizontal when installed.
 
15 Install electrical wiring harness (2) in plug housing (4).   AR00.19-P-0100-04A

16 Connect electrical connector (3) and attach electrical wiring harness (2) to trailer hitch. IMPORTANT Replace cable ties.  
17 Install positioning ring (1) of trailer hitch. IMPORTANT Make sure that the positioning ring (1) is locked correctly.
The positioning ring (1) must engage audibly twice.
Check that the positioning ring (1) can move freely.
 
18 Install cap on trailer hitch.    
19 Lower vehicle.   AR00.60-P-1006A
20 Switch on ignition and read out and delete fault memory.    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04B
21 Swivel in trailer hitch.
