Connection scheme
Routing diagram
- Attach black 24-pin contact socket (20.1) of trailer hitch wiring harness (20) to trailer recognition control unit (N28/1).
The black 24-pin contact socket (20.1) was routed into the vehicle interior during installation of the trailer hitch crossmember.
- Connect blue 6-pin contact socket of trailer hitch wiring harness (20) to blue 6-pin connector socket of control unit wiring harness (22).
This makes the electrical connection for the vehicle interior/trailer hitch (X58/33).
- Fasten electrical connector for vehicle interior/trailer hitch (X58/33) to holder using retaining clip.
- Connect black 6-pin contact socket (22.1) to trailer recognition control unit (N28/1).
- Connect black 10-pin contact socket (22.2) to trailer recognition control unit (N28/1).
- Connect white 10-pin contact socket (22.3) to trailer recognition control unit (N28/1).
- Route control unit wiring harness (22) along the existing lines to the right rear wheel well and fasten with cable ties.
- 8.1
If a violet fuse holder (22.5) is not yet installed. Attach violet fuse holder (22.5) of control unit wiring harness (22) to slot "S17" on rear fuse and relay module (K40/5).
Slot "S17" on the rear fuse and relay module (K40/5) is labeled.
8.2 If a violet fuse holder (22.5) is already installed as standard.
Transfer fuses and lines on violet fuse holder (22.5) using basic
wiring harness repair kit or supplementary passenger car
wiring harness repair kit.
- Check fuse assignment on violet fuse holder (22.5), correct if necessary.
Fuse assignment:
Contact cavity 5 = 15A
Contact cavity 6 = 15A
- 10.1
If a green fuse holder (22.6) is not yet installed. Attach green fuse holder (22.6) of control unit wiring harness (22) to slot "S18" on rear fuse and relay module (K40/5).
Slot "S18" on the rear fuse and relay module (K40/5) is labeled.
10.2 If a green fuse holder (22.6) is already installed as standard.
Transfer fuses and lines on green fuse holder (22.6) using basic
wiring harness repair kit or supplementary passenger car
wiring harness repair kit.
- Check fuse assignment on green fuse holder (22.6), correct if necessary.
Fuse assignment:
Contact cavity 1 = 5A
Contact cavity 2 = 15A
Contact cavity 3 = 5A
Contact cavity 4 = 5A
Contact cavity 5 = 15A
Contact cavity 6 = 5A
- Remove blue fuse holder (22.11) from slot "S2" on rear fuse and relay module (K40/5) and install red line of control unit wiring harness (22) into contact cavity 5 of blue fuse holder (22.11).
- Attach blue fuse holder (22.11) to slot "S2" on rear fuse and relay module (K40/5).
Fuse assignment:
Contact cavity 5 = 25A
- Remove violet fuse holder (22.10) from slot "S15" on rear fuse and relay module (K40/5) and install red/yellow line of control unit wiring harness (22) into contact cavity 3 of violet fuse holder (22.10).
- Attach violet fuse holder (22.10) to slot "S15" on rear fuse and relay module (K40/5).
Fuse assignment:
Contact cavity 3 = 25A
- Route white 4-pin contact socket (22.4) to rear SAM control unit (N10/8) and connect.
- Route control unit wiring harness (22) to right D-pillar.
- Route brown/white line (BN/WH) to right rear wheel arch ground point (W3/8) and connect
.
A maximum of 4 round cable lugs may be connected per ground point. In the event of over-assignment, any free ground point should be selected.
- Route brown line (BN) to right D-pillar ground point (W29/9) and connect
.
A maximum of 4 round cable lugs may be connected per ground point. In the event of over-assignment, any free ground point should be selected.
- Release cable duct (23).
- Wrap felt tape around liftgate fully electric trailer hitch switch branch-off line (22.8) of control unit wiring harness (22) in area of roof lining.
- Route liftgate fully electric trailer hitch switch branch-off line (22.8) of control unit wiring harness (22) through cable duct (23) to liftgate.
Use a pull-through device in the area of the cable duct (23).
- Route liftgate fully electric trailer hitch switch branch-off line (22.8) of control unit wiring harness (22) to installation location of trailer hitch switch along vehicle wiring harness.
The black 6-pin contact socket (22.9) must protrude far enough to enable the trunk/liftgate fully electric trailer hitch switch (S142/2) to be connected at a later stage.
- Fasten the liftgate full electric trailer hitch switch branch-off line (22.8) to the vehicle wiring harness using cable ties.
- Fasten cable duct (23).
