- Attach black, 24-pin connector (20.1) of the trailer hitch wiring harness (20) to the trailer recognition control unit (N28/1).
The black, 24-pin connector (20.1) was routed into the vehicle interior compartment during installation of the trailer hitch cross member.
- Connect white 6-pin connector of trailer hitch wiring harness (20) to white 6-pin plug of control unit wiring harness (22).
This makes the electrical connection for the vehicle interior/trailer hitch (X58/33).
- Fasten vehicle interior/trailer hitch electrical connector (X58/33) to holder using retaining clip.
- Connect black 10-pin connector (22.1) to trailer recognition control unit (N28/1).
- Connect black 10-pin connector (22.2) to trailer recognition control unit (N28/1).
- Route control unit wiring harness (22) along existing lines to right rear wheel well and fasten with cable ties.
- 7.1
If a violet fuse holder (22.5) is not yet installed. Attach violet fuse holder (22.5) of control unit wiring harness (22) to slot "S17" on rear fuse and relay module (K40/5).
The slot "S17" is labeled.
7.2 If a violet fuse holder (22.5) is already installed. Transfer fuses and lines on violet fuse holder (22.5) using basic
wiring harness repair kit or supplementary passenger car
wiring harness repair kit.
- Check fuse assignment on violet fuse holder (22.5); correct if necessary.
Fuse assignment:
Contact cavity 6 = 15 A
- 9.1
If a green fuse holder (22.6) is not yet installed. Attach green fuse holder (22.6) of control unit wiring harness (22) to slot "S18" on rear fuse and relay module (K40/5).
The slot "S18" is labeled.
9.2 If a green fuse holder (22.6) is already installed. Transfer fuses and lines on green fuse holder (22.6) using basic
wiring harness repair kit or supplementary passenger car
wiring harness repair kit.
- Check fuse assignment on green fuse holder (22.6); correct if necessary.
Fuse assignment:
Contact cavity 2 = 15 A
Contact cavity 5 = 15 A
- Remove blue fuse holder (22.11) from slot "S2" of rear fuse and relay module (K40/5) and install red line (RD) of control unit wiring harness (22) in contact cavity 5 of blue fuse holder (22.11).
- Install blue fuse holder (22.11) at slot "S2" of rear fuse and relay module (K40/5).
Fuse assignment:
Contact cavity 5 = 25 A
- Remove violet fuse holder (22.10) from slot "S15" of rear fuse and relay module (K40/5) and install red/yellow line (RD/YE) of control unit wiring harness (22) in contact cavity 3 of violet fuse holder (22.10).
- Install violet fuse holder (22.10) at slot "S15" of rear fuse and relay module (K40/5).
Fuse assignment:
Contact cavity 3 = 25 A
- Route white 4-pin connector (23) to rear SAM control unit (N10/8) and connect.
- Route control unit wiring harness (22) to right D-pillar.
- Route brown/white line (BN/WH) to right rear wheel arch ground point (W3/8) and connect
.
A maximum of 4 round cable lugs may be connected per ground point. If too many have been used, select another ground point that has not been used.
- Route front footwell branch-off line (22.4) along existing lines to right B-pillar and fix in place using cable ties.
- Route red/blue line (RD/BU) of front footwell branch-off line (22.4) to front passenger side A-pillar fuse box (F1/3) and fix in place using cable ties.
- Route front footwell branch-off line (22.4) into driver footwell and fix in place with cable ties.
- Remove violet multiple fuse carrier (80) of front passenger side A-pillar fuse box (F1/3).
- Install red/blue line (RD/BU) in contact cavity 1 of violet multiple fuse carrier (80) of front passenger side A-pillar fuse box (F1/3).
The contact cavities of the violet multiple fuse carrier (80) are labeled.
- Install violet multiple fuse carrier (80) of front passenger side A-pillar fuse box (F1/3).
- Insert a fuse with a fuse rating of 30 A into contact cavity 1 of violet multiple fuse holder (80).
Contact cavity 1 of violet multiple fuse carrier (80) is labeled on the outside with "F307".
- Connect brown line (BN) of front footwell branch-off line (22.4) to front left footwell ground point (W15/5)
.
A maximum of 5 round cable lugs may be connected per ground point.
If left front footwell ground point (W15/5) is overassigned,
↓
Left front footwell ground point (CAN) (W15/6)
or left footwell ground point (W34)
to be used.
- Route green 4-pin coupling of front footwell branch-off line (22.4) to driver-side A-pillar and fix in place using cable ties.
The green 4-pin coupling is used to prepare the electrical connector for the electronic brake system (X58/28) with an approved electric brake control.
