  1. Attach SPECIAL TOOL holder (6) to steering gear housing (2) with centering pin (7).
  2. Remove centering pin (7) from holder (6).
  3. SPECIAL TOOL Insert dial indicator (8) into SPECIAL TOOL holder (6) over adjustment screw (1) and place measuring tip on thrust piece (9).
  4. Measure play between thrust piece (9) and toothed rack (10) by moving toothed rack (10) back and forth with SPECIAL TOOL open-end wrench and note down. Model 205, 213, 238 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive)

    NOTES The specified test torque of the toothed rack (10) must not be exceeded.

    Otherwise it is not possible to check the play correctly.

  5. SPECIAL TOOL Detach holder (6) and SPECIAL TOOL dial indicator (8) from steering gear housing (2).
