General
The glass breakage sensor is integrated in the respective glass pane.
Function
The glass breakage sensor consists of conductor tracks that are vacuum-metalized onto the respective window. If the resistance value for the conductor tracks rises above a specific value, an alarm is issued. The status of the glass breakage sensor is evaluated by the Control unit of the anti-theft alarm system. Glass breakage sensors are usually installed in the rear window. Crewbuses as well as 2-door coupes and SUVs are often equipped with glass breakage sensors in the rear fixed side windows in addition.
