Anti-theft alarm system (ATA [EDW]), general

The ATA monitors all relevant inputs after locking the vehicle with the central locking (CL). If a change of status is detected at one of the monitored inputs, an acoustic and visual alarm is given. In vehicles with code 882 (Interior protection and tow-away protection), the acoustic alarm signals are output via the alarm siren, and in vehicles except code 882 (Interior protection and tow-away protection), the acoustic signals are output via the left and right horn. The visual alarm signals are output by the turn signals. In addition the interior illumination is switched on.

The front SAM Control unit has the master function for the ATA [ATA]. In vehicles with code 852 (sensor system for anti-theft alarm system (ATA)) or with code 882 (interior protection and tow-away protection) the front SAM Control unit and the overhead control panel Control unit (Model 205 as of 01.06.2018 or Model 253 (except Model 253.99) as of 01.06.2019 or Model 253.99) or the Control unit for the ATA/tow-away protection/interior protection (Model 205 up to 31.05.2018 or Model 253 (except Model 253.99) up to 31.05.2019) share the master function.

The ATA [EDW], when armed, monitors:

Doors
Trunk lid or liftgate
Engine hood
Alarm siren (with code 882 (Interior protection and tow-away protection))
Change in the vehicle's location (tow-away protection) (with code 852 (sensor system for anti-theft alarm system (ATA)) or with code 882 (interior protection and tow-away protection))
Vehicle movements (parking damage detection) (with code 852 (sensor system for anti-theft alarm system (ATA)) or with code 882 (interior protection and tow-away protection) in Model 205 (except Model 205.4) as of 01.06.2018 or in Model 253 (except Model 253.99) as of 01.06.2019 or in Model 253.99)
Movements in the vehicle interior (interior protection) (with code 852 (sensor system for anti-theft alarm system (ATA)) or with code 882 (interior protection and tow-away protection))
Left rear passenger compartment side window, right rear passenger compartment side window, and rear window (Model 205.2, 253 with code 882 (interior protection and tow-away protection))
