Location 

The ATA [EDW]/tow-away protection/interior protection Control unit is attached to the overhead control panel Control unit (N70).

Location 

The ATA [EDW]/tow-away protection/interior protection Control unit is located in the center of the center console below the cup holder.

Tasks 

The ATA [EDW]/tow-away protection/interior protection Control unit has the following tasks:

• Reading in of sensors and signals 
• Evaluation of input factors 
• Output of signals 
• Sending and receiving ultrasonic waves (Model 205.0/1/2/3, 253) 
• Recognizing changes of vehicle inclination 

Reading in of sensors and signals 

The input factors are read in via the following connections:

• Direct line 
• Alarm system LIN (LIN B14) 
• Interior CAN (CAN B) 

Direct line 

The ATA/tow-away protection/interior protection Control unit reads in the signals of the following component parts via the direct lines:

• Left rear glass breakage sensor (B39) (Model 205.2, 253 with code 882 (Interior protection and tow-away protection))
• Right rear glass breakage sensor (B39/1) (Model 205.2, 253 with code 882 (Interior protection and tow-away protection))
• Rear window glass breakage sensor (B39/4) (Model 205.2, 253 with code 882 (Interior protection and tow-away protection))

Alarm system LIN 

The ATA/tow-away protection/interior protection Control unit reads in the signals of the following components over the alarm system LIN:

• Alarm siren (H3/1)
• Left front door interior protection sensor (B44/1) (Model 205.4)
• Right front door interior protection sensor (B44/2) (Model 205.4)
• Left rear passenger compartment interior protection sensor (B44/3) (Model 205.4)
• Right rear passenger compartment protection sensor (B44/4) (Model 205.4)

Interior CAN 

The signals are read in by the anti-theft alarm system/emergency call system button group via the interior CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Evaluation of input factors 

The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.

Output of signals 

The signals are issued through the following connections:

• Alarm system LIN 
• Interior CAN 

Alarm system LIN 

The ATA/tow-away protection/interior protection Control unit transmits the request for alarm output to the alarm siren via the alarm system LIN.

Interior CAN 

The signals are transmitted by the anti-theft alarm system/emergency call system button group via the interior CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Sending and receiving ultrasonic waves (Model 205.0/1/2/3, 253) 

The ATA/tow-away protection/interior protection Control unit monitors the vehicle interior for motion by transmitting and receiving ultrasonic waves. The anti-theft alarm system/emergency call system button group includes the following components:

• Interior protection receiver (N26/6a1)
• Left interior protection transmitter (N26/6b1)
• Right interior protection transmitter (N26/6b2)

Recognizing changes of vehicle inclination 

If the inclination sensor integrated into the ATA/tow-away protection/interior protection Control unit recognizes an alarm-relevant change of inclination, an alarm is output.
