Remove And Route Tension Cables Of Headliner - AR68.30-P-4303-01B

Tensioning cable numbers 4, 8

1. Move soft top to repair position R3.
2. Knock off rivet (4b) and remove rest of rivet.

   Tensioning cables (4, 8) are fastened together at rivet (4b).

3. Guide tensioning cable (4) out of eyelet (4c).

   If necessary, mark routing of tensioning cable (4).

4. Press tensioning cable (4) out of mounting strip (9) using a suitable tool and cut off clamping ring (14).
5. Remove tensioning cable (4) from mounting strip (9).
6. Insert cutting wire through guide (4a) into mounting strip (9) and fasten new tensioning cable (4) at open end.

   Use a round cutting wire.

   New tensioning cable (4) has a brown marking on ring eyelet.

7. Pull new tensioning cable (4) using cutting wire through guide (4a) of mounting strip (9).
8. Press clamping ring (14) onto new tensioning cable (4) using a suitable tool and install in bracket of mounting strip (9).

   Press clamping ring (14) so that dimension "a" is 3.5 ± 0.5 mm and dimension "b" is 3.75 ± 0.25 mm.

9. Route new tensioning cable (4) according to previously applied markings and through eyelet (4c) and fix in place at riveting point with suitable means.
10. Guide tensioning cable (8) out of eyelet (4c).

    If necessary, mark routing of tensioning cable (8).

11. Press tensioning cable (8) out of mounting strip (9) using a suitable tool and cut off clamping ring (14).
12. Remove tensioning cable (8) from mounting strip (9).
13. Insert cutting wire through guide (8a) into mounting strip (9) and fasten new tensioning cable (8) at open end.

    Use a round cutting wire.

    New tensioning cable (8) has a green marking on ring eyelet.

14. Pull new tensioning cable (8) using cutting wire through guide (8a) of roof lining.
15. Press clamping ring (14) onto new tensioning cable (8) using a suitable tool and install in bracket of mounting strip (9).

    Press clamping ring (14) so that dimension "a" is 3.5 ±  0.5 mm and dimension "b" is 3.75 ±  0.25 mm.

16. Route new tensioning cable (8) according to previously applied markings and through eyelet (4c).

    Check tensioning cable (8) is routed correctly.

17. Remove fixing of new tensioning cable (4).
18. Rivet ring eyelet of new tensioning cables (4, 8).

    Before riveting, ensure that the tensioning cables (4, 8) are not twisted, crossed, or offering excessive resistance.

    Otherwise the roof lining will be damaged when actuating the soft top mechanical components.
