The electric seats function description comprises the following subfunctions, which are described in separate documents:

• Electrical seat adjustment (ESE), function (with CODE 221 (Electrically adjustable left driver's seat) and CODE 222 (Electrically adjustable right front seat)) 
• Electrical seat adjustment (ESE), function (with CODE 275 (Memory package)) 
• Electrical seat adjustment (ESE) function (except CODE 221 (Electrically adjustable left driver seat), except CODE 222 (Electrically adjustable right front seat) and except CODE 275 (Memory package)) 
• Front multicontour seat function (with code 409 (Left/right front multicontour seats)) 
• Lumbar support adjustment function (with code 221 (Electrically adjustable left driver's seat) and Code 222 (Electrically adjustable right front seat) or code 242 (Electrically adjustable front passenger seat with memory function) or code 275 (Memory Package) or code P65 (Seat Comfort Package) and except code 409 (Left/right front multicontour seats) 
• Electric steering column adjustment (ELE) function (with CODE 275 (Memory package)) 
• Rear passenger compartment backrest release, function (model 205.2/4, 253) 

Electrical seat adjustment (ESE), function (with CODE 221 (Electrically adjustable left driver's seat) and CODE 222 (Electrically adjustable right front seat)) 

The following electrical driver and front passenger seat settings can be made with the ESA:

• Seat longitudinal direction
• Backrest inclination
• Seat height
• Seat inclination

Electrical seat adjustment (ESE), function (with CODE 275 (Memory package)) 

The electrical seat adjustment enables the following electrical adjustments to be made to the driver seat, and in vehicles with CODE 242 (Electrically adjustable front passenger seat with memory function) also to the front passenger seat:

• Seat longitudinal direction
• Backrest inclination
• Seat height
• Seat inclination
• Seat cushion length
• Head restraint height

The memory function can also be used to store and retrieve up to three different seat positions.

Electrical seat adjustment (ESE) function (except CODE 221 (Electrically adjustable left driver seat), except CODE 222 (Electrically adjustable right front seat) and except CODE 275 (Memory package)) 

The following electrical driver and front passenger seat settings can be made with the ESA:

• Seat height
• Backrest inclination
• Seat inclination (with CODE P65 (Seating comfort package))

Front multicontour seat function (with code 409 (Left/right front multicontour seats)) 

The following functions are available with the multicontour seat:

• Adjustment of contours and surface hardness of seat backrest, via air cushions in the seat side bolsters of the seat backrest, in the lower and upper lumbar area
• Massage function (pulsation of air cushions in lumbar area)

Operation is via a menu in the head unit (A26/17).

Lumbar support adjustment function (with code 221 (Electrically adjustable left driver's seat) and code 222 (Electrically adjustable right front seat) or code 242 (Electrically adjustable front passenger seat with memory function) or code 275 (Memory Package) or code P65 (Seat Comfort Package) and except for code 409 (Left/right front multicontour seats)) 

In order to provide optimum support for the vertebral column, the backrest on the driver and front passenger seat each has a lumbar support unit integrated.

Electric steering column adjustment (ELE) function (with CODE 275 (Memory package)) 

The adjust/store steering column function allows the steering column to be adjusted to various different positions and these positions to be stored. The easy entry/exit function allows the driver to get in and out of the vehicle easily. In the process the steering column is moved upwards before getting in or out.

Rear passenger compartment backrest release, function (model 205.2/4, 253) 

In order to increase the loading volume of the vehicle, the separated backrest in the rear passenger compartment can be released electrically and then folded forward.
