The following special tools are required:
puller (724 589 02 33 00),
puller (724 589 01 33 00)
The special tool puller (724 589 02 33 00) consists of the following individual special tools:
724 589 02 33 01
724 589 02 33 02
724 589 02 33 03
724 589 02 33 04
724 589 02 33 05
Do not use an impact wrench or compressed air tool.
Otherwise there may be damage to the special tool and the shaft of the primary oil pump.
Perform operation steps 1 to 12 to remove and install the drive gear of the primary oil pump (oil pump gear (2)).
Perform operation steps 13 to 20 to remove and install the sensor rotor (55P) of the hollow shaft (55W) on the primary oil pump.
Remove oil pump gear (2).
- Transmission 724.0 in model 117, 156, 176, 242, 246
Determine the version of oil pump gear (2) installed.
Old variant of the oil pump gear (2) has 4 holes; new variant has 6 holes.
- Insert special tool (01) into oil pump gear (2).
Make sure that the pins of special tool (01) engage correctly in the oil pump gear (2).
- Unscrew nut (1) of oil pump gear (2).
The nut (1) of the oil pump gear (2) has a left-hand thread.
The special tool (01) supports itself on the coupling housing (K27) when removing the nut (1).
- Insert special tool (03) (old version) or special tool (04) (new version) into the holes of the oil pump gear (2).
- Insert special tool (03) (old version) or special tool (04) (new version) into the elongated holes of the special tool (01).
- Lift up special tool (01) slightly and install special tool (05) between special tool (01) and oil pump gear (2).
Make sure that the special tool (01) is seated in center, above the oil-pump drive shaft.
- Screw special tool (02) into special tool (01) and pry off oil pump gear (2).
Install oil pump gear (2).
- Plug oil pump gear (2) onto shaft of primary oil pump.
Replace oil pump gear (2) after each removal.
Otherwise the transmission will be damaged.
- Tighten nut (1).
Nut (1) has a left-hand thread.
- Insert special tool (01) into oil pump gear (2).
Make sure that the pins of special tool (01) engage correctly in the oil pump gear (2).
- Tighten nut (1) to specified torque
.
- Remove special tool (01) from oil pump gear (2).
Remove sensor rotor (55P).
- Install the
puller (09) by hand onto sensor rotor (55P).
Make sure that the
puller (09) is correctly seated on the sensor rotor (55P).
- Release nut (55M) of sensor rotor (55P).
Release nut (55M) of sensor rotor (55P) by turning the hexagon (07) of the
puller (09). To loosen the nut (55M), counterhold the
puller (09) at the hexagon (07) of the
puller (09) using a suitable tool.
- Unscrew nut (55M) of sensor rotor (55P) and detach sensor rotor (55P) from hollow shaft (55W).
The nut (55M) is unscrewed and the sensor rotor (55P) detached from the hollow shaft (55W) in a single operation, whereby the hexagon (08) of the
puller (09) is turned. Counterhold the
puller (09) at the hexagon (07) using a suitable tool.
Install sensor rotor (55P).
- Place sensor rotor (55P) on hollow shaft (55W).
- Screw on nut (55M) by hand.
Always replace nut (55M) after removal.
- Install
puller (09) onto sensor rotor (55P).
- Tighten nut (55M) using
puller (09)
.
The nut (55M) is tightened by turning the hexagon (07) on the
puller (09). Counterhold the
puller (09) when tightening at the hexagon (07) using a suitable tool.
- Remove
puller (09) from sensor rotor (55P).
