Remove

Required special tools:

Hydraulic cylinder (020) 001 589 60 33 00
Hydraulic hose (021) 652 589 00 33 23
Hand pump (022) 652 589 00 33 21

The following tools are required from the extraction and insertion tool 176 589 00 43 00:

Counterholder (02) 176 589 00 43 02
Thrust piece (04) 176 589 00 43 04
Nut (09) 176 589 00 43 09
Spindle (10) 176 589 00 43 10

Mount hydraulic cylinder (020) with hydraulic hose (021) to hand pump (022).
Insert counterholder (02) from rear into rear axle carrier (2).

When removing, the installation ring (06) must not be attached to the counterholder (02).

The arrow on the counterholder (02) must point downward.
Position spindle (10), nut (09), hydraulic cylinder (020) and thrust piece (04) at bearing (1) and counterholder (02) as shown.
Press bearing (1) rearward out of the rear axle carrier (2).

If hydraulic cylinder (020) reaches its maximum stroke, release pressure on hand pump (022), and tighten nut (09). Then repeat the press-out procedure.
Remove spindle (10), nut (09), hydraulic cylinder (020), thrust piece (04) and bearing (1).
Remove counterholder (02) from rear axle carrier (2).

Install

Required special tools:
- Hydraulic cylinder (020) 001 589 60 33 00
- Hydraulic hose (021) 652 589 00 33 23
- Hand pump (022) 652 589 00 33 21
The following tools are required from the extraction and insertion tool 176 589 00 43 00:
- Counterholder (02) 176 589 00 43 02
- Thrust piece (04) 176 589 00 43 04
- Installation ring (06) 176 589 00 43 06
- Nut (09) 176 589 00 43 09
- Spindle (10) 176 589 00 43 10
Insert installation ring (06) into counterholder (02) and engage.

Installation ring (06) determines the end position of the bearing (1) in the rear axle carrier (2).
Insert counterholder (02) with installation ring (06) from rear into rear axle carrier (2).

The arrow on the counterholder (02) must point downward.
Apply insertion agent to bearing (1).
Position spindle (10), nut (09), hydraulic cylinder (020), bearing (1) and thrust piece (04) on rear axle carrier (2) and counterholder (02) as shown.

The protrusion of bearing (1) must face forward.
Press bearing (1) rearward into rear axle carrier (2).

If hydraulic cylinder (020) reaches its maximum stroke, release pressure on hand pump (022), tighten nut (09). Then repeat the press-in procedure.
Remove spindle (10), nut (09), hydraulic cylinder (020) and thrust piece (04).
Remove counterholder (02) with installation ring (06) from rear axle carrier (2).
Wipe off excess insertion agent.
