The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.

The safety information in the superordinate service document must be observed.
- Expose spot welds on the upper front longitudinal member (1) and cut off (areas A1
, A2
, A3
and A4
).
- Heat upper front longitudinal member (1) in the cross-hatched area.
Cross-hatched area is bonded.
- Take off upper front longitudinal member (1).
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Apply zinc dust paint to insides of spot weld flanges.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area B).
Otherwise adhesion problems can occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
