Rivet Timing Chain - AR05.10-P-7601-02MRH

IMPORTANT For riveting the timing chain (10), the following tools from the SPECIAL TOOL rivet press tool are required:

Basic carrier (1)

Spindle (2)

Grab handle

Mount (A1)

Thrust piece (A2)

Mount (B1)

Thrust piece (B2)

NOTES Protect timing case recess against falling small parts using clean rag and if applicable, remove any small parts that have fallen in.

Engine damage can occur otherwise.

  1. Insert thrust piece (A2) in spindle (2).
  2. Insert rivet link (10N) in thrust piece (A2).

  3. Position outer plate (10A) of timing chain (10) on pins (4).
  4. Position rear chain plates (10L) of timing chain (10) on pins (4).
  5. Position center plate (10M) of timing chain (10) on pins (4).
  6. Position front chain plates (10G) of timing chain (10) on pins (4).

  7. Insert mount (A1), with inserted timing chain (10), in basic carrier (1).
  8. Screw in spindle (2) until rivet link (10N) is in close contact with timing chain (10).
  9. Screw in spindle (2) and press rivet link (10N) into timing chain (10).
  10. Unscrew spindle (2).
  11. Remove basic carrier (1), mount (A1), and thrust piece (A2) from timing chain (10).
  12. Remove mount (A1) and thrust piece (A2) from basic carrier (1).
  13. Install mount (B1) and thrust piece (B2) in basic carrier (1).
  14. Insert timing chain (10) in mount (B1) and basic carrier (1) so that the pins (10B) of the rivet link (10N) that are not riveted point toward the thrust piece (B2).

  15. Screw in spindle (2) until thrust piece (B2) sits centrally on one of the two pins (10B) of the rivet link (10N).
  16. Screw in spindle (2) and press thrust piece (B2) onto pin (10B).
  17. Repeat operation steps  15 and  16 on the second pin (10B).
  18. Remove basic carrier (1), mount (B1), and thrust piece (B2) from timing chain (10).
  19. Check pins (10B) for correctly riveted state (arrows).

    If in an unriveted state

    Repeat work procedure from operation step  15.
