Disconnect Timing Chain - AR05.10-P-7601-01MRH

IMPORTANT For separating the timing chain (10), the following tools from the SPECIAL TOOL rivet press tool are required:

Basic carrier (1)

Spindle (2)

Grab handle

Mount (C1)

Thrust piece (C2)

NOTES Protect timing case recess against falling small parts using clean rag and if applicable, remove any small parts that have fallen in.

Engine damage can occur otherwise.

  1. Attach grab handle as shown to basic carrier (1).
  2. Cover over timing case slot with a clean rag.

  3. Insert mount (C1) in basic carrier (1) and insert thrust piece (C2) in spindle (2).
  4. Insert timing chain (10) in SPECIAL TOOL rivet press tool so that the outside links of the timing chain (10) are on the side of the tensioning rail after separation.

    IMPORTANT If the old timing chain (10) is separated somewhere else, it is not possible to install the new timing chain (10).

  5. Screw in spindle (2) until thrust piece (C2) is in contact with the timing chain (10).

    NOTES Ensure that the thrust piece (C2) is in contact with the clinch bolt of the chain link to be separated. Otherwise, damage to chain link will occur.

  6. Screw in spindle (2) and push out and remove clinch bolt of timing chain (10).
  7. Unscrew spindle (2) and remove SPECIAL TOOL rivet press tool.

    IMPORTANT When removing thrust piece (C2), ensure that the timing chain (10) does not fall into the timing case recess.

  8. Remove rags from timing case recess.
