	Check

2	Start engine, bring to operating temperature, and switch off.	Coolant temperature 60 to 80°C.
3	Remove cylinder head cover.	Only install upper engine cover after the leak test.	AR01.20-P-5014MFG
4	Remove front right fender liner.		AR88.10-P-1301MFA
5	Turn engine at center bolt of the crankshaft in the direction of engine rotation until the cam on the compensating element to be checked is on the base circle.	The engine must not be turned back against the direction of engine rotation. Otherwise the timing chain jumps and causes engine damage. Counterholder	Fig 1
		If a roller-type rocker arm (1) does not make contact with the cam, ↓ Replace compensating elements.	AR05.00-P-2011MFG
6	Compress compensating element. To do so depress roller-type cam follower (1) using a suitable drift (01).	Do not use a steel tool. The surface will be damaged otherwise. The compensating element should not be pressed together with the normal force of the hand but only very slowly when applying a strong pressure. Check the pressure oil supply to the cylinder head if more than one compensating element is defective. If the compensating element drops excessively, ↓ Replace compensating elements. 7	Install in the reverse order.
8	Carry out engine test run and check engine for leak tightness.
