Remove/Install Knock Sensors - AR15.12-P-2184MFG

CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove the catalytic converter.   AR49.20-P-0100MFG
2 Remove screw/bolts (1) and remove heat shields (2, 3). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, heat shield of knock sensor to crankcase/engine support/bracket *BA15.10-P-1002-02B 
3 Unscrew bolt (4). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, heat shield of knock sensor to crankcase/engine support/bracket *BA15.10-P-1002-02B 
4 Unclip heat shields (5, 6) and remove.    
5 Mark position of knock sensor 1 (A16/1) and knock sensor 2 (A16/2) on crankcase.    
6 Release and disconnect electrical connector (7) at knock sensor 1 (A16/1) and/or knock sensor 2 (A16/2).    
7 Remove bolt (8) from knock sensor 1 (A16/1) and/or knock sensor 2 (A16/2). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, knock sensor to crankcase *BA15.10-P-1001-02B 
8 Remove knock sensor 1 (A16/1) and/or knock sensor 2 (A16/2). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT If re-using knock sensor 1 (A16/1) and knock sensor 2 (A16/2), place them in the previously marked position.
When replacing knock sensor 1 (A16/1) and knock sensor 2 (A16/2),

Transfer marking of installation position from old part.
 
9 Install in the reverse order.    
INSPECT Check     
10 Connect vehicle diagnosis system, read out fault memory, and delete.    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-06MFA
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
11 Perform an engine test run; check the engine for proper function.
