Correct articulation angle at center (∠2)
To correct the articulation angle, install shop-made steel or aluminum spacers at the propeller shaft intermediate bearing (1).
A 1 mm thick spacer changes the articulation angle by approx. 0.17°.
When using spacers with a thickness of > 2 mm, increase the bolt length by 5 mm.
If a spacer with a thickness of 5 mm is required, check the right engine mount and bearing of the transmission suspension for signs of settling or wear, replace if necessary.
- Mark propeller shaft intermediate bearing (1) and reinforcement (2).
In order to be able to reproduce the factory installation position when installing, make colored markings of the position of the propeller shaft intermediate bearing (1) and the reinforcement (2) relative to the frame floor assembly.
- Unscrew bolts (3), remove propeller shaft intermediate bearing (1) and reinforcement (2) from frame floor assembly.
- Insert shop-made spacers at rear and in center, between the propeller shaft intermediate bearing (1) and frame floor assembly, as well as at the front between the reinforcement (2) and the frame floor assembly.
Measure dimensions for spacers on reinforcement (2) or propeller shaft intermediate bearing (1).
- Position propeller shaft intermediate bearing (1) and reinforcement (2) together with spacers on frame floor assembly and partially screw in bolts (3).
- Align propeller shaft intermediate bearing (1) and reinforcement (2) with previously-made colored marking and tighten bolts (3)
