Correct articulation angle at rear (∠3)

IMPORTANT To correct the articulation angle on the rear axle differential (1), suitable adjusting plates (2) are available as a replacement part set.

The replacement part set contains 3 adjusting plates (2) and therefore it has 6 different setting options (3 adjusting plates (2) times 2 alignments) in 1 mm steps. A 1 mm change to the adjusting plate (2) causes a change in angle of 0.2°.

  1. Support rear axle differential (1) with support plate and major assembly mount.
  2. Remove bolt (3).
  3. Remove adjusting plate (2).
  4. Install corresponding adjusting plate (2) according to correction. HELD TESTER

NOTES Install adjusting plate (2) exactly on bearing.

    Otherwise damage will occur.

  5. Manually slightly tighten screw (3).
  6. Tighten screw (3) TORQUE SPECIFICATION .
  7. Remove support plate and major assembly mount from rear axle differential (1).

Example for calculating ratio of angle change to adjusting plates (2)

The articulation angle between the propeller shaft and the rear axle differential (1) should be -0.6°, but +0.2° is measured. An adjusting plate (2) with 2 notches at top (-1.5 mm) is already inserted in the vehicle.

Required correction to articulation angle: (-0.6°) - (+0.2°) = -0.8°→ 4 mm change required for smaller articulation angle → insert new adjusting plate (2) with 3 notches at bottom.

Remove installed adjusting plates (2) with 2 notches at top (-1.5 mm) and replace with adjusting plate (2) with 3 notches at bottom (+2.5 mm). This is equivalent to the required total change of 4 mm.

    1. notch at top: -0.5 mm (+0.1°)
    2. notches at top: -1.5 mm (+0.3°)
    3. notches at top: -2.5 mm (+0.5°)
    1. notch at bottom: +0.5 mm (-0.1°)
    2. notches at bottom: +1.5 mm (-0.3°)
    3. notches at bottom: +2.5 mm (-0.5°)
