Remove/Install Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Of Exhaust Gas Aftertreatment Unit - AR49.20-P-1505MFG

WARNING Risk of burn injuries  , suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning  caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the danger zone. AS49.00-Z-0001-01A 
CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Attach support fixture for engine/transmission unit for repair operations. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Only install lower engine compartment paneling after leak test. AR01.10-P-0107MFA
2 Remove union nut and pull temperature sensor upstream of gasoline particulate filter (B163/4) out of exhaust gas aftertreatment unit (5). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Coat thread of the union nut with hot lubrication paste.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Exhaust temperature sensor to exhaust aftertreatment unit
*BA07.04-P-1009-01R 
    Paste, hot lubrication 1 kg, DBL 6879.20 *BR00.45-Z-1005-06A 
    SPECIAL TOOL Box wrench bit Fig 1
3 Seal opening in the exhaust gas aftertreatment unit (5) with a suitable stop plug. SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 2
4 Remove right engine mount. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Do not install upper engine cover until after the leak test. AR22.10-P-1102MFG
5 Remove heat shield (1).    
6 Remove union nut and pull temperature sensor upstream the catalytic converter (B19/7) out of the exhaust gas aftertreatment unit (5). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Coat thread of the union nut with hot lubrication paste.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Exhaust temperature sensor to exhaust aftertreatment unit

    Paste, hot lubrication 1 kg, DBL 6879.20 *BR00.45-Z-1005-06A 
    SPECIAL TOOL Box wrench bit Fig 1
7 Seal opening in the exhaust gas aftertreatment unit (5) with a suitable stop plug. SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 2
8 Unclip electric lines (4) from the brackets (3). NOTES
Do not subject electric lines (4) to tension, crush them, or kink them.
This will cause damage to the electric lines (4) and impair their function.
 
9 Release and disconnect electrical connector (2).    
10 Remove sensor unit of the temperature sensors (B175) from the cylinder head.    
11 Remove temperature sensor upstream of catalytic converter (B19/7) and temperature sensor upstream of gasoline particulate filter (B163/4) with temperature sensors control unit (B175) upwards. IMPORTANT Temperature sensor upstream of catalytic converter (B19/7), temperature sensor upstream of gasoline particulate filter (B163/4) and temperature sensors control unit (B175) form a unit and can only be removed as a unit.  
12 Install in the reverse order.    
INSPECT Check     
13 Read out and delete fault memory.    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-06MFA
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
14 Perform engine test run. While doing so, check engine for proper operation and leak tightness.    
15 Install lower engine compartment lining.   AR61.20-P-1105MFR
16 Install upper engine cover.
