Transmissions 722.6/9, 725.0 in all models (off-road vehicles) 

We would like to inform you about current changes to the Specifications for Operating Fluids for vehicles of the cars and off-road vehicles divisions equipped with the listed automatic transmissions.

5-speed automatic transmission 722.6: 

Only transmission oil as per Specifications for Operating Fluids Sheet 236.14  may be used.

7-speed automatic transmission 722.9 except code A89: 

Only transmission oil as per Specifications for Operating Fluids sheet 236.14  may be used.

7-speed automatic transmission 722.9 with code A89: 

Only transmission oil as per Specifications for Operating Fluids Sheet 236.15  may now be used.

7-speed automatic transmission 724.2: 

Only transmission oil as per Specifications for Operating Fluids Sheet 236.15  may now be used.

9-speed automatic transmission 725.0/1: 

Only transmission oil as per Specifications for Operating Fluids Sheet 236.17  may now be used!

Exception: 

Transmission 722.6 may not be filled with FE-ATF  134 and ATF D97. 

The following control features and information must be observed to ensure that 7-speed automatic transmission 722.9 is filled correctly:

The diagnostics system displays a message referring to the specified transmission oil before reading out the transmission oil temperature.

Transmission 722.9  can be identified by the differently shaped oil pan (see picture 1  and picture 2  ).

Separate filling units must be used for all transmission oils (236.14, 236.15, 236.17) because these transmission oils must never be mixed with other transmission oils.

Exception: 

Transmission 722.6/9, the associated electrohydraulic controller units and torque converters, which are available as a replacement part, are checked at the production plant using FE ATF-134 only. It is therefore possible that these parts have residual traces of FE ATF-134. In this case, the transmission, controller unit and torque converter do not have to be cleaned. The transmission can be filled with the corresponding gear oil (as per this SI) immediately after it has been installed.
