- Clean trunk lid in crosshatched area.
The area to be glued must be free of dust and grease. Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
- Adjust, center trim element (1) at lower contour of trunk lid and fix in place using tape strips (4).
Ensure a uniform gap course.
- Cut through tape strips (4).
During cutting of tape strips (4), ensure that surfaces of trim element (1) and trunk lid are not damaged.
This can otherwise lead to visual impairments at component part surfaces and/or to corrosion at trunk lid.
- Remove trim element (1).
- Fold back protective foils (2, 3) at an angle of 45° to outside.
- Fix in place protective foils (2, 3) using a tape strip (4) at trim element (1).
- Carefully mount trim element (1) on trunk lid, align with previously attached tapes (4) and press on in direction of travel.
- Remove protective foils (2) in increments from inside to outside and press on trim element (1).
- Remove protective foils (3) from inside to outside and press on trim element (1).
During removal of protective foils (2, 3), constantly check for correct alignment of trim element (1).
It is no longer possible to reposition after bonding.
- Press trim piece (1) from inside toward outside.
When pressing on, ensure that the pressure is applied directly on the adhesive point. The maximum adhesive strength is only reached after approx. 72 h at 20°C.
Avoid any contact with moisture (e.g. rain, fog, frost, washing facility) or any mechanical stress within the first 24 h. Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
- Remove tape strips (4) and clean trim element (1).
