Climate control

Two different systems are offered for the climate control of the vehicle interior of the new CLA-Class:

The offer as standard or special equipment depends on the respective market and engine.

The objective of the climate control is an automatic mode that broadly fulfills many users' sense of comfort. This climate control comfort is achieved by perfectly coordinated control curves.

For an as-required cooling or heating of the air, multiple sensors measure among other things the vehicle interior temperature and the outside temperature. To prevent fogged up windows, the air humidity at the windshield is detected. Some sensors, e. g. the evaporator temperature sensor, outlet air temperature sensors as well as the pressure sensor for the refrigerant are directly linked with the central control unit. Others, e. g. the actuator motors or the blower regulator, are connected to a LIN bus.

Operation

The basic functions of the climate control can be selected via the air conditioning control panel in the lower section of the instrument panel. Via the air conditioning menu in the multimedia system display, additional functions can be shown in a clearly arranged manner, supported by animation, and operated.

Personalization

The climate control settings can be saved separately for eight different user profiles. Seven of the profiles are user profiles, one profile is a guest profile. The profiles are created and saved in the multimedia system. With the press of a button, all the settings saved under the respective profile can be restored without having to realize each setting individually.

IMPORTANT

The regulation of the climate control is regulated in the central control unit (N10). A separate climate control unit does not exist. After a software update of the central control unit, the climate control must also be recoded.

PTC heater booster

The more efficient an engine is, the less usable thermal energy available from the coolant for heating. To nevertheless be able to achieve the desired heating comfort in the passenger compartment, in particular in the case of a cold combustion engine, a PTC heater booster with an electric output of 1.2 kW will be installed in a market-dependent manner. The generated heat is directly supplied by the PTC to the air flowing into the vehicle interior. The heating output of the heater booster is automatically activated or deactivated in stages in a demand-oriented manner.

ENERGIZING comfort control with code PBP (ENERGIZING package)

The ENERGIZING comfort control with code PBP (ENERGIZING package) combines various individual functions (e.g. interior lighting, climate control, audio) to form programs that are assigned to certain guiding themes. Characteristics of these individual functions generally serve to improve the individual well-being of the driver/all vehicle occupants. Mental and physical fitness can also be increased due to the attuned response of various senses. The driver can be assisted by an active or refreshing program in monotonous driving situations, or by a relaxing or warming program in emotionally stressful situations. A program with guided relaxation exercises can help with tension.

The following is required as minimum equipment:

The seat heating for the driver and front passenger (code 873) is included in the package.

ENERGIZING comfort control with code PBR (ENERGIZING package plus)

The ENERGIZING comfort control with code PBR (ENERGIZING package plus) also requires the following special equipment:
