Separate Inner B-Pillar - Ar63.20-P-1350-01MFA

IMPORTANT The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.

The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. Mark separating points on B-pillar side wall (1) and disconnect (areas E and D).

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANTDimension 

    a = approx. 80 mm

  2. Expose spot welds on B-pillar (1) at the bottom and cut off (area C).
  3. Expose spot welds on B-pillar (1) at the top and cut off (areas F and G).
  4. Drill out spot welds on B-pillar (1) with Ø 6.5 mm (areas A and B).

  5. Expose spot welds on reinforcement plate (2) and cut off (areas I and J).
  6. Remove reinforcement plate (2).

  7. Heat B-pillar (1) in the cross-hatched areas (areas K).
  8. Remove B-pillar (1).

  9. Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  10. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  11. Apply zinc dust paint to insides of spot weld flanges onto connecting flanges that are no longer accessible after installing side roof paneling.

    NOTES Bonding surfaces may not be coated with zinc dust paint (area L).

    Otherwise adhesion problems can occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
