The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.

The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

1. Mark separating point on A-pillar (2) and cut (area A).

   Do not make the cuts too deep.

   Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

2. Expose spot welds on longitudinal member outer shell (1) and cut off (areas B₁ , B₂ , B₃ , B₄ and B₅ ).

3. Expose spot welds on longitudinal member outer shell (1) and cut off (areas C₁ , C₂ and C₃ ).
4. Expose spot welds on longitudinal member outer shell (1) and cut off from the bottom (areas C₄ , C₅ and C₆ ).

5. Heat longitudinal member outer shell (1) in cross-hatched areas.

   Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

6. Remove outer longitudinal member shell (1).

7. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

   Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

8. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
9. Apply zinc dust paint to insides of spot weld flanges onto connecting flanges that are no longer accessible after installing side roof paneling.

   Bonding surfaces may not be coated with zinc dust paint (areas D₁ , D₂ and D₃ ).

   Otherwise adhesion problems can occur.

   Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
