The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.
The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.
- Mark separating point on reinforcement (2) and cut (area A)
Do not cut too deeply.
Otherwise the C-pillar side wall (1) will be damaged and the strength will be impaired.
Dimensions :
a1 = approx. 85 mm
a2 = approx. 40 mm
- Expose spot welds on reinforcement (2) and cut out (areas B).
- Remove reinforcement(2).
- Mark separating points on C-pillar side wall (1) and cut (area A).
Do not cut too deeply.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Dimensions :
b1 = approx. 35 mm
b2 = approx. 170 mm
- Expose spot welds on the C-pillar side wall (1) and cut out (areas C).
- Heat C-pillar side wall (1) in the cross-hatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove C-pillar side wall (1).
- Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust.
- Apply zinc dust paint to insides of spot weld flanges onto connecting flanges that are no longer accessible after installing side roof paneling.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area E).
Otherwise adhesion problems can occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
