Prepare Longitudinal Member Outer Shell On Rocker Panel For Installation - Ar63.30-P-1102-02MFA

The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.

The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

1. Mark separating points on the longitudinal member outer shell (1) and cut (area A).

   Transfer separation points from vehicle.

2. Expose spot welds on longitudinal member outer shell (1) and drill out with a diameter of 6.5 mm (area B).
3. Grind mating surfaces on the longitudinal member outer shell (1) down to bare metal in the cross-hatched areas.

   Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

4. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
5. Apply zinc dust paint to insides of spot weld flanges onto connecting flanges that are no longer accessible after installing side roof paneling.

   Bonding surfaces may not be coated with zinc dust paint (areas C₁ , C₂ and C₃ ).

   Otherwise adhesion problems can occur.

   Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
