MODEL 129, 140, 170, 171, 172, 202, 203, 208, 209, 210
MODEL 211, 219 without CODE 489 (Airmatic (semi-active air suspension))
MODEL 231 without CODE 487 (Active Body Control (ABC))
MODEL 230 without CODE 487 (Active Body Control (ABC))
Model 140, 129, 170, 202, 208, 210
The color marks in the middle of the spring are the manufacturer's inspection marks. They are of no significance related to the spring length.
The various spring lengths and the various axle loads, resulting from the individual vehicle models and versions, are compensated for by the installation of spring rubber mounts of different height.
The part number and Daimler trademark are stamped on the last lower coil on each spring.
Assignment of the spring rubber mount to the vehicle model can be determined with the aid of the EPC.
Model 140, 129 and model 202 (up to 12/95)
Spring length tolerances arise during manufacture of the springs. The springs are color coded on the second coil from the bottom to allow the different spring lengths to be identified:
red = short spring
blue = long spring
Model 170, 171, 172, 203, 208, 209, 210, 211, 219, 230, 231 and model 202 (as of 01/96)
The springs installed in these models are not ground and attached at the top. Color coding is no longer required due to lower production tolerance.
