Location

The reversible emergency tensioning retractors are in the relevant side wall.

Task

The reversible emergency tensioning retractors have the job of tensioning the seat belt of the driver or front passenger seat in certain hazardous situations by actuating an integrated actuator motor in order to minimize the consequences of a potential accident. If the seat belt adjustment function is active, the seat belt slack is additionally reduced when the seat belt is fastened.

The tasks are subdivided as follows:

Reading in of signals

The following signals, among other things, are read in via chassis CAN (CAN E) (up to 29.02.2016) or chassis CAN 1 (CAN E1) (as of 01.03.2016):

The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Evaluation of input factors

The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.

Transmitting signals

The reversible emergency tensioning retractors send the request to display a fault message, among other things, via chassis CAN (up to 29.02.2016) or chassis CAN 1 (as of 01.03.2016).

The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
