Remove Suspension Strut Tower - Ar62.20-P-1232-01LW

IMPORTANT The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle on model 205 and must be performed in the same way on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Mark separating point on suspension strut tower (1) and cut (area A).

    NOTES Do not cut too deeply.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

  2. Expose spot welds on suspension strut tower (1) and cut off (area B).
  3. Expose self-piercing riveting on suspension strut tower (1) and drill out with a diameter of 6 mm (area C1 and C2 ).

    IMPORTANT Depending on the hardness of the individual punch rivets it may be necessary to spot-drill the punch rivets and knock them out from the opposite side (area C1 ).

  4. Heat suspension strut tower (1) in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  5. Heat suspension strut tower (1) in crosshatched areas.

  6. Remove suspension strut tower (1).

  7. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  8. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
