Remove/Install Front Axle Brake Caliper - AR42.10-P-0070LWA

  Risk of accident  when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work. Before starting the engine, actuate brake pedal several times until pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system. AS42.50-Z-0002-01A 
CAUTION Risk of poisoning  from swallowing brake fluid.
Risk of injury  from skin and eye contact with brake fluid
Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove brake pads (2).   AR42.10-P-1610LWA 
2 Remove electrical connector of right front brake pad wear sensor from brake caliper (1). Only when removing right brake caliper (1).
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 205, 253
4-piston fixed-caliper brake
Model 293 Bolt, brake wear sensor to brake caliper

    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 213 (except 213.061/261)

3 Remove brake hose (4). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Bleed brake system only after installing brake pads (2). AR42.10-P-0013LW 
4 Unscrew bolts (3) and remove brake caliper (1). INSTALLATION NOTES : The new brake caliper (1) is shipped in prefilled condition and it may not be drained.
Otherwise the brake caliper (1) cannot be vented.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 205, 253

Model 293 Bolt, brake caliper/brake caliper support to steering knuckle

    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 213 (except 213.061/261) 4-piston fixed-caliper brake Bolt, brake caliper/brake caliper support to steering knuckle BA42.10-P-1001-10X
INSPECT Check     
5 Check brake caliper (1) and dust boots of brake pistons for leak tightness and damage. In the event of a problem,

replace brake caliper (1).
 
6 Check brake disk for wear and condition.

In the event of a problem,

Replace brake disks.

7 Install in the reverse order.    
8 Bleed brake system. Model 205, 253

9 Operate brake pedal several times until the brake pads (2) make contact with the brake disks. IMPORTANT Firm resistance should be noticeable at the brake pedal.  
INSPECT Check     
10 Check and correct brake fluid level in brake fluid expansion reservoir.

11 Perform brake test on test stand.
