Electric Parking Brake Control Unit, Component Description - GF42.20-P-5005RF
Model 205, 253 with engine 177
up to model year 2019
Shown on model 205.0
Location
The electric parking brake control unit is located at the left in the trunk
behind the partition wall to the vehicle interior.
Tasks
The electric parking brake control unit has the following tasks:
- Reading in of signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Actuation of components
Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Periphery CAN (CAN PER)
Direct line
The electric parking brake control unit reads in the status of the electric parking brake switch (S76/15) directly.
Peripherals CAN
The electric parking brake control unit reads in, for example, the following information via the peripherals CAN:
- Terminal status of terminal 15
- Status of driver's seat belt (fastened or not fastened)
- Status of trunk lid/liftgate (open or closed)
- Status of driver door (open or closed)
- Engaged drive range (automatic transmission)
- Accelerator pedal position
- Wheel speed for determining the vehicle speed
- Request to activate parking brake through driver assistance systems
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.
Actuation of components
The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Peripherals CAN
Direct line
The electric parking brake control unit actuates the left electric parking brake actuator motor (M76/1) and the right electric parking brake actuator motor (M76/2) directly.
Peripherals CAN
The electric parking brake control unit transmits the following requests via the peripherals CAN:
- Emergency braking request to the Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4)
- Request to display messages and warnings to the instrument cluster (A1)
