Remove/Install Rear Axle Elastomer Bearing Of Spring Link - AR35.20-P-0114-01SX

IMPORTANT The following special tools are required: SPECIAL TOOL press-out/in tool and SPECIAL TOOL extractor.

    1. When replacing the left elastomer bearing in the rear axle carrier (1)

      Remove left rear muffler.

    2. When replacing the right elastomer bearing in the rear axle carrier (1)

      Remove exhaust system from flange connection back.

      Press out 

  1. Mount sleeve (068b) onto bracket (068a).
  2. SPECIAL TOOL Position press-out/in tool with thrust piece (068c) and press (010h) on rear axle carrier (1).
  3. Secure press (010h) and thrust piece (068c) by tightening hand wheel (068e). In the process observe the chamfer (arrow) on sleeve (068b), it must abut the rear axle carrier (1) exactly.
  4. Press out elastomer bearing.

    IMPORTANT To move out the piston, screw in the pressure screw (010k) of the press (010h) until the piston is fully extended. This process must be repeated approx. 5 times due to the short stroke of the press (010h). In order to do this, move the piston back by turning back the pressure screw (010k) while simultaneously tightening the hand wheel (068e). The spindle of the hand wheel (068e) must always exert a little pressure onto the press (010h) so that the tools cannot fall out.

    Press in 

  5. Replace sleeve (068b) by sleeve (068f).

    IMPORTANT If necessary, place shims (A) between bracket (068a) and sleeve (068f).

  6. Insert elastomer bearing into bore in rear axle carrier (1).
  7. Position press-out/in tool with thrust piece (068g) and press (010h) on rear axle carrier (1).
  8. Secure press (010h) and thrust piece (068g) by tightening hand wheel (068e). In the process observe the chamfer (arrow) on the sleeve, it must abut the rear axle carrier (1) exactly.
  9. Press elastomer bearing into rear axle carrier (1) until the thrust piece (068g) abuts the rear axle carrier (1) (arrow).
