Install Rear Fender Complete - Ar63.50-P-1401-03LFS

Model 222.1/9 

with code Z07 (B7 armoring on special protection version)

IMPORTANT The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.

The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. Install rear fender and fit.
  2. Install rear bumper and fit.
  3. Install trunk lid and fit.
  4. Install and fit tail lamp.
  5. Install seal and fit.
  6. Install lock striker and fit.
  7. Check gaps using SPECIAL TOOL gauge and adjust.
  8. Fix in place rear fender.
  9. Remove striker eye.
  10. Remove seal.
  11. Remove taillamp.
  12. Remove trunk lid.
  13. Remove rear bumper.

  14. Drill rivet holes on the rear fender (1) with a diameter of 6.7 mm (areas A2 , B).

    IMPORTANT Drill rivet holes from inside through present holes in body (area A2 ).

  15. Drill rivet holes on the rear fender (1) with a diameter of 6.7 mm (areas A, A3 , A4 , A5 , A6 ).

    Only if no riveter for punching and flow-form rivets is used for installation.

    IMPORTANT Drill rivet holes from inside through the existing holes in the body (areas A, A3 , A4 , A5 ).

    IMPORTANT Transfer position of present holes in body to new part (area A6 ).

  16. Countersink rivet holes on the rear fender (1) (areas A4 , A5 , A6 ).
  17. Remove rear fender (1).
  18. Deburr rivet holes on rear fender (1) and body on both sides.
  19. Remove drilling chips.
  20. Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint (area B).

  21. Attach suitable spacers to the rear outer wheel well at uniform intervals (area E).
  22. Apply sealant to outer rear wheel well and foam parts (areas D1 , E).
  23. Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas (areas D2 ).

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.

  24. Install rear fender (1), fit and fix in place.
  25. Rivet rear fender (1) with rivets with a diameter of 6.4 x 12 (areas, F2 , F3 , F4 , F5 ).

    IMPORTANT Flow form rivet structure up to 3.5 mm clamping range (S1) can also be used if a riveter for punching and flow form rivets is used for installation (areas F2 , F3 , F4 , F5 ).

  26. Rivet rear fender (1) with countersunk-head rivets with a diameter of 6.4 x 14 (areas F6 , F7 , F8 ).

    IMPORTANT Flow form rivet structure up to 3.5 mm clamping range (S1) can also be used if a riveter for punching and flow form rivets is used for installation.

  27. Rear fender (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (area H).
  28. Arrest transitions at crimped edge for seals with vise grip pliers until the 2-component adhesive has cured.

  29. Drill holes for plug welds on the rear fender (1) (areas T).

  30. Rear fender (1) INSPECT (areas T).
  31. Rear fender (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (areas L, O).

    Rear fender (1) SHIELDED GAS SEAM WELD (areas J, K).

    IMPORTANT Perform inert gas welding at intervals and allow to cool down in between. This reduces heat distortion.

    Surface grind inert gas weld joints (areas J, K).

    Solder surfaces on rear fender (1) with body solder and smooth (areas J, K).

    Remove solder residues and grinding dust.

  36. Model 222.9
