Cut Off B-Pillar - Ar63.20-P-1350-05LF

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Model 222.0/1

    except code Z07 (B7 armoring on special protection version)

    Mark separating points on B-pillar paneling (1) and cut (areas A and B).

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANTDimensions: 

    a = approx. 135 mm

    b = approx. 160 mm

  2. Model 222.9

    except code Z07 (B7 armoring on special protection version)

    Mark separating points on B-pillar paneling (1) and cut (areas A1 and B1 ).

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANTDimensions: 

    a1 = approx. 170 mm

    b2 = approx. 485 mm

  3. Mark separation point on B-pillar paneling (1) and cut (area C).

    NOTES Do not cut too deeply.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANT Transfer separating point from recesses of inner side (arrows) to B-pillar paneling (1).

  4. Expose spot welds on A-pillar paneling (1) and cut out (areas D).

    IMPORTANTDimensions: 

    c = approx. 25 mm

  5. Heat B-pillar paneling (1) in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded.

  6. Remove B-pillar paneling (1).

    IMPORTANT Mark separating points along Y-marking (areas E).

    Cut is required to expose spot welds behind (area F).

    IMPORTANT Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANTDimensions: 

    e1 = approx. 70 mm

    e2 = approx. 155 mm

    IMPORTANT Mark separating points along Y-marking (areas E1 ).

    Cut is required to expose spot welds behind (area F1 ).

  10. Model 222.9

  12. Expose spot welds on B-pillar reinforcement (2) and cut out (areas I and K).

    IMPORTANT Cut out spot welds through two panel thicknesses (areas K).

  13. Heat B-pillar reinforcement (2) in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded.

  14. Remove B-pillar reinforcement (2).

  15. Expose spot welds on remaining pieces of inner B-pillar (3) and cut out (areas L).
  16. Remove remaining pieces of inner B-pillar (3).

  17. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in the cross-hatched inner C-pillar sidewall.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  18. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  19. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas M).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
