Remove Wheel Well - Ar62.20-P-1200-21LFS

Model 222 

with code Z07 (B7 armoring on special protection version) 

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Heat guard plate (4) in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded.

  2. Remove guard plate (4).

  3. Unscrew flow drill bolts (area A) from connecting carrier (2).
  4. Expose spot welds on connecting carrier (2) and cut out (areas B).

  5. Heat connecting area (2) in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded.

  6. Remove connecting carrier (2).
  7. Expose spot welds on pedal floor panel (3) and cut out (areas C1 ).
  8. Expose self-piercing riveting on wheel well (3) and drill with Ø 6 mm bit (area C2).
  9. Expose weld seams on pedal floor panel (3) and cut (areas D).
  10. Remove pedal floor panel (3).

  11. Expose self-piercing riveting on wheel well (1) and drill with Ø 6 mm bit (areas E1 and E2 ).

    IMPORTANT The self-piercing rivets can also be separated with a riveter for self-piercing and flow-form rivets (area E1 ).

  12. Transfer center point of self-piercing rivet (area F1 ) marking (X1 ) to firewall (5) using compass.

    When working on wheel well (1) on passenger side.

    NOTES Precision work required.

    Otherwise the repair cannot be performed when positioned incorrectly.

    IMPORTANT Perform operation steps analogously on passenger side for right-hand drive vehicle.

  13. Note dimension x1 of compass range.

    When working on wheel well (1) on passenger side.

  14. Transfer center point of self-piercing rivet (area F1 ) marking (Y1 ) to firewall (5) using compass.

    When working on wheel well (1) on passenger side.

    NOTES Precision work required.

    Otherwise the repair cannot be performed when positioned incorrectly.

    IMPORTANT Perform operation steps analogously on passenger side for right-hand drive vehicle.

  15. Note dimension y1 of compass range.

    When working on wheel well (1) on passenger side.

  16. Expose self-piercing riveting on wheel well (1) and drill with Ø 6.7 mm bit (area F2 ).

    When working on wheel well (1) on passenger side.

    IMPORTANT Perform operation steps analogously on passenger side for right-hand drive vehicle.

  17. Expose self-piercing riveting on wheel well (1) and drill with Ø 6, 7 mm bit (area F).

    When working on wheel well (1) on driver side.

    IMPORTANT Perform operation steps analogously on driver side for right-hand drive vehicle.

  18. Expose self-piercing riveting on wheel well (1) and drill with Ø 6 mm bit (areas G1 and G2).
  19. Expose spot welds on wheel well (1) and cut out (area H1).
  20. Expose spot welds on wheel well (1) and drill with Ø 6.5 mm bit (areas H2 and H3).

  21. Expose self-piercing riveting on wheel well (1) and drill with Ø 6 mm bit (areas I1 and I2).
  22. Expose spot welds on wheel well (1) and cut out (area K1).
  23. Expose spot welds on wheel well (1) and drill with Ø 65 mm bit (areas K2 and K3).

  28. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in the cross-hatched inner C-pillar sidewall.

    IMPORTANT Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal on inside (area M).

    Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces (areas L).

  29. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in the cross-hatched inner C-pillar sidewall.
