Remove Outer Section Of B-Pillar - Ar63.20-P-1121-01GQX

Model 166.8, 292 

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

Shown on model 166.8 

  1. Scribe separating point on side wall paneling (1) and cut (areas A).

    IMPORTANT Measure dimension (a) from edge of roof frame strut. Measure dimension (a) for separating point in area A from upper side wall cutout (arrow).

    IMPORTANTRemoval  : a = approx. 50 mm

    b = approx. 220 mm

  2. Scribe separating point on side wall paneling (1) and cut (areas B1 and B2).

    IMPORTANT Separating point in area B2 is Y-marking (arrow).

    Determine separating point in area B1 according to degree of damage.

  3. Cut separating point on side wall paneling (1) (areas A, B1 and B2).

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

  4. Expose spot welds on side wall paneling (1) and cut out (areas B3, CI and C2).
  5. Remove damaged side wall paneling (1).

  6. Expose spot welds on outer B-pillar (2) and cut out (areas D1, D2, D3 and D4).
  7. Heat outer B-pillar (2) in crosshatched area.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched area is bonded.

  8. Remove damaged outer B-pillar (2).
  9. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in the cross-hatched inner C-pillar sidewall.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  10. Remove shavings and drill chips.
  11. Coat insides of spot welding flanges with zinc dust paint.
