The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

- Scribe separating point on side wall paneling (1) and cut (areas A).
Measure dimension (a) from edge of roof frame strut. Measure dimension (a) for separating point in area A from upper side wall cutout (arrow).
Removal : a = approx. 50 mm
b = approx. 220 mm
- Scribe separating point on side wall paneling (1) and cut (areas B1 and B2).
Separating point in area B2 is Y-marking (arrow).
Determine separating point in area B1 according to degree of damage.
- Cut separating point on side wall paneling (1) (areas A, B1 and B2).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
- Expose spot welds on side wall paneling (1) and cut out (areas B3, CI and C2).
- Remove damaged side wall paneling (1).

- Expose spot welds on outer B-pillar (2) and cut out (areas D1, D2, D3 and D4).
- Heat outer B-pillar (2) in crosshatched area.
Cross-hatched area is bonded.
- Remove damaged outer B-pillar (2).
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in the cross-hatched inner C-pillar sidewall.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove shavings and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot welding flanges with zinc dust paint.
