Install Outer Section Of B-Pillar - Ar63.20-P-1121-03GQX

Model 166.8, 292 

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

Shown on model 166.8 

  1. Install outer B-pillar (2), fit and fix in place.
  2. Drill 0 6.7 mm rivet holes through pre-drilled holes in outer B-pillar (2) in outer longitudinal member (area R2).

    IMPORTANT If flow-form rivet pliers are not available, drill additional hole in area R1. Outer B-pillar replacement part (2) is delivered with pre-drilled hole (areas R1 and R2).

  3. Remove outer B-pillar (2).
  4. Deburr rivet holes on outer B-pillar (2) on both sides.
  5. Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint.

  6. Apply sealant to foam parts (area S).

    IMPORTANT Always replace damaged foam parts which can no longer be used. New foam parts are available only from the responsible Daimler AG departments.

  7. Install outer B-pillar (2), fit and fix in place.
  8. 8.1 If flow drill rives are present.

    Rivet outer B-pillar (2) with flow-form rivets, structure 3.35 mm to 4.1 mm clamping range (S2) (areas T1 and T3).

    8.2 If flow drill rives are not present.

    Rivet outer B-pillar (2) with 0 6.4X12.5 blind rivet (areas T1 and T3).

  9. 9.1 If flow drill rives are present.

    Rivet outer B-pillar (2) with flow-form rivet, structure from 4 mm to 5.15 mm clamping area (S3) (areas T2).

    9.2 If flow drill rives are not present.

    Rivet outer B-pillar (3) with Ø 6.4X 14.5 (area T2).

  10. Rivet outer B-pillar (3) with Ø 6.4X 14.5 blind rivet (area T4).
  11. Install side wall paneling (1), fit and fix in place.
  12. Drill Ø 6.7 mm rivet holes in an side wall paneling (1) (areas V1).
  13. Remove side wall paneling (1).
  14. Deburr rivet holes on both sides.
  15. Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint.
  16. Install side wall paneling (1), fit and fix in place.
  17. Side wall paneling (1) SHIELDED GAS SEAM WELD (areas W1, W2, and W3).
  18. Side wall paneling (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (areas U1, U2, U3 and U4).
  19. Rivet side wall paneling (1) with Ø 6.4X14 countersunk-head rivet (area V1).
  20. Clean weld joints.
  21. Grind inert gas welds on side wall paneling (1) down flat.
  22. Solder surfaces on side wall paneling (1) in areas W1, W2 and W3 with body solder and smooth.
  23. Remove shavings and drill chips.
