Separate Outer Side Longitudinal Member - Ar63.30-P-1050-01EW

Model 117, 156, 166, 176, 212, 218, 242, 246, 292 

The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

1. Scribe separation points on outer side longitudinal member (1) (areas A, B and C).

   Determine separation points according to degree of damage (areas A and B). Cut outer side longitudinal member (1) between upper and lower embossment of plane surface (area C).

2. Cut outer side longitudinal member (1) at separation points (areas A, B and C).

   Do not make the cuts too deep.

   Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

3. Expose spot welds on outer side longitudinal member (1) (areas D, E and F).
4. Cut out spot welds on outer side longitudinal member (1) (areas D, E and F).
5. Remove damaged outer side longitudinal member (1).

6. Model 117, 156, 176, 242, 246 Drill 10 mm wax holes in B-pillar (2) (areas G).

   Model 117

   Dimensions MODEL 117: 

   a = 25_mm

   b = 145 mm

   Model 156

   Dimensions MODEL 156: 

   a = 25_mm

   b = 120 mm

   Model 176, 242, 246

   Dimensions MODEL 176, 242, 246: 

   a = 25_mm

   b = 80_mm

7. Model 117, 156, 176, 242, 246 Deburr drill holes (areas G).

8. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in the cross-hatched inner C-pillar sidewall.

   Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

9. Remove shavings and drill chips.
10. Coat insides of spot welding flanges with zinc dust paint.
