REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove front bumper (1). Model 292 except code 772 (AMG styling - Front spoiler, side skirts) AR88.20-P-2000GQC 
    Model 166 (except 166.874) as of model year 2016 AR88.20-P-2000GQ 
DISASSEMBLINGASSEMBLING Disassemble/assemble     
2 Set down front bumper (1) on a suitable base    
3 Remove radiator grille (2)   AR88.40-P-4001GQ 
4 Remove license plate and license plate bracket from front bumper (1)    
5.1 Unclip impact absorber (3) Model 166.0, 166.8 (except 166.874) as of model year 2016
except code 233 (Adaptive cruise control Plus (DISTRONIC PLUS)) Model 292
except code 233 (Adaptive cruise control Plus (DISTRONIC PLUS))
except code 772 (AMG styling - Front spoiler, side skirts)		  
5.2 Remove pedestrian protection sensors (4) with impact absorber (3) Model 166.0, 166.8 (except 166.874) as of model year 2016

    IMPORTANT Perform work on left and right side of front bumper (1) analogously.  
6.2 Remove COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST control unit Model 166 (except 166.874) as of model year 2016
with code 258 (Collision warning system with active brake application FCW-Stop)

except code 772 (AMG styling - Front spoiler, side skirts)		  
    IMPORTANT Perform work on left and right side of front bumper (1) analogously. AR54.70-P-0002GQC
7 Remove front parking system distance sensors (6) in front bumper (1) Model 166.0, 166.8 (except 166.874) as of model year 2016
with code 220 (PARKTRONIC system (PTS))
with code 235 (Active Parking Assist) Model 292
with code 235 (Active Parking Assist) except code 772 (AMG styling - Front spoiler, side skirts)
IMPORTANT Perform work on left and right side of front bumper (1) analogously.		 AR54.65-P-0001GQC
8 Disconnect electrical connectors from outside temperature sensor (9)    
9 Unclip outside temperature sensor (9)    
10 Unclip front bumper electrical wiring harnesses (7) from front bumper (1) and remove IMPORTANT The number of electrical lines varies depending on the vehicle equipment.  
11 Unclip cover (8) from front bumper IMPORTANT Perform work on left and right side of front bumper (1) analogously.

12 Remove expansion rivets (13) Model 166.0, 166.8 (except 166.874) as of model year 2016  
    SPECIAL TOOL Clip remover Fig 3
13 Unclip lower carrier (11) and lower paneling (12) with suitable tool    
14 Unscrew bolts (14) on left and right sides Model 166.0, 166.8 (except 166.874) as of model year 2016  
15 Bend open sheet metal clip (23) with suitable tool and remove Model 166.0, 166.8 (except 166.874) as of model year 2016
IMPORTANT Replace sheet metal clips (23).		  
16 Unclip lower basic carrier (15) Model 166.0, 166.8 (except 166.874) as of model year 2016

17 Unclip front bumper in lower area (24) Model 292 except code 772 (AMG styling - Front spoiler, side skirts)
IMPORTANT The front bumper lower area (24) consists of a lower basic carrier (15), cover grill (25), cover in underride guard bumper area (26), cover in bumper lower left area (27) and cover in bumper lower right area (28).		  
    SPECIAL TOOL Mounting wedge Fig 2
18 Lay front bumper lower area (24) down on suitable base Model 292 except code 772 (AMG styling - Front spoiler, side skirts)  
19 Unclip cover in bumper lower left area (27) and remove Model 292 except code 772 (AMG styling - Front spoiler, side skirts)

20 Unclip cover in bumper lower right area (28) and remove Model 292 except code 772 (AMG styling - Front spoiler, side skirts)

24 Unclip catch tab (18) with suitable tool Model 166.0, 166.8 (except 166.874) as of model year 2016
