Remove/Install Rear Seat - AR91.12-P-1000GQ

DANGER Risk of injury.  Moving parts can pinch, crush or, in extreme cases even sever extremities. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating range of the mechanism when moving components. AS00.00-Z-0009-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by performing testing or repair work on airbag or emergency tensioning retractor units. Store airbag units with deployment side facing up; do not expose to temperatures greater than 100°C. When working on these units, disconnect the power supply. AS91.00-Z-0001-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Move head restraint at 40 % rear seat (1) or 6C % rear seat (2) downwards    
2 Move 40 % rear seat (1) or 60 % rear seat (2) forwards    
3 Remove cover (3) at vehicle floor When removing 40% rear seat (1)  
4 Unclip cover (4) from seat frame When removing 40% rear seat (1)  
5 Remove covers (5) at vehicle floor When removing 60% rear seat (2)  
6 Remove screws/bolts (6) and remove cover (7) When removing 60% rear seat (2)  
7 Fold 40 % rear seat (1) or 60 % rear seat (2) forwards IMPORTANT In vehicles with code 843 (EASY-ENTRY electric) operate the switch for the folding backrest.  
8 Detach ground line from battery Model 166.8 with code 298 (Rear sidebag with belt force limiter) 2nd seat row AR54.10-P-0003GZ
9 Unhook springs (8) at pins (11) using suitable box wrench INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Ensure that springs (8) are seated correctly.  
10 Unscrew bolts (9) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, rear seat console to vehicle floor *BA91.12-P-1001-03F 
11 Detach cover (12) When removing 60% rear seat (2)  
12 Disconnect Electrical connections (10) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Ensure that electrical connectors (10) are seated correctly and electrical lines are routed correctly.  
13 Cover entrance strip and door sill    
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 08 98 00 Cover IMPORTANT Cover door sill and door sill molding with door sill protector. WS98.00-P-0014B
14 Remove 40 % rear seat (1) or 60 % rear seat (2) from vehicle through door cutout of rear door NOTES Carefully remove 40 % rear seat (1) or 60 % rear seat (2) from vehicle.
Otherwise components in the vehicle interior or at the rear door or the entrance may be damaged.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Check that the lock pin for the guide rail is correctly seated in the vehicle floor.
IMPORTANT Helper required.
 
15 Set down 40 % rear seat (1) or 60 % rear seat (2) and secure against falling over    
16 Install in the reverse order
