Remove/Install Rear Bumper - AR88.20-P-2200GQA

NOTES Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge   AH54.00-P-0001-01A
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Open liftgate    
2 Lift vehicle on vehicle lift   AR00.60-P-1000GZ
3 Remove bolts (1)    
4 Detach left and right fender liner in rear fender in area of bumper (2)   AR88.10-P-1400GQ 
5 Remove left and right bolt (5) Model 166.8 (except 166.874) as of model year 2016

6.1 Remove left and right bolt (3) Model 166.8  
6.2   Model 166.874  
7 Unclip bumper (2) from side wall (arrow a) NOTES
Observe lug (4).
Otherwise the rear lamp may be damaged.
 
8 Unclip bumper (2) below rear lamp (arrow b) and detach until electrical connectors (6, 7) are disconnected    
9 Disconnect electrical connectors (6, 7) and remove bumper (2) IMPORTANT The number of electrical connectors varies according to vehicle equipment.  
10 Install in the reverse order    
INSPECT Check     
11 Switch on ignition and check blind spot assist for operational readiness Model 166.8 with code 234 (Blind Spot Monitoring)
IMPORTANT The operation and warning indicators in the outside mirrors illuminate red and then yellow.
 
12 Switch on ignition, switch on PARKTRONIC, engage reverse gear, disengage parking brake and PARKTRONIC or active parking system with PARKTRONIC for operational readiness Model 166.8 with code 220 (PARKTRONIC)
Model 166.8 with code 235 (Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC)
IMPORTANT The PARKTRONIC automatically performs a self-test and the operational readiness is signaled via the warning indicators.
