Remove/Install Low-Temperature Circuit Expansion Reservoir - AR09.41-P-0001MLJ

  Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
  Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove center section of upper engine cover    
2 Remove ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) from mount on intake manifold and place to one side with electrical lines connected Engine 157, 278 in model 166

3 Detach boost pressure control pressure transducer (Y77/1) and place with attached lines to one side Engine 157, 278 in model 166

4 Unscrew cap on low-temperature circuit coolant expansion reservoir (1) IMPORTANT Turn cap slowly and relieve overpressure, then unscrew cap.  
5 Remove lower engine compartment paneling Engine 157, 278 in model 217, 222 AR61.30-P-1001LF
    Engine 157, 278 in model 166, 292
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Only mount lower engine compartment paneling after a leak check.

6 Drain coolant in low-temperature circuit    
NOTES Notes on coolant IMPORTANT The drain screw for the low-temperature circuit is located in the low-temperature circuit hose package at the front right in engine compartment. AH20.00-N-2080-01A
7 Loosen clamp from vent line (4) and detach vent line (4) from low-temperature circuit coolant expansion reservoir (1)    
8 Unclip electrical connection (2) from bracket    
9 Remove screw/bolts (3) from coolant expansion reservoir low-temperature circuit (1)    
10 Unlock quick-release coupling from coolant line (5) (arrow) and detach coolant expansion reservoir low-temperature circuit (1) from coolant line (5)    
11 Install in the reverse order    
INSPECT Check

IMPORTANT Attach tester cap to coolant expansion reservoir low-temperature circuit (1) and apply the test pressure to the low-temperature circuit.

  Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
13 Perform an engine test run and check low-temperature circuit engine cooling system for leaktightness
