	Remove/install

2	Move A/T into neutral position and switch off ignition

4	Remove heat shields
5	Apply color marking to installation position of drive shaft (1) relative to transfer case and differential	Restore ex-factory installation position. Drivetrain vibrations can otherwise occur.
6	Apply color marking to installation position of propeller shaft intermediate bearing (2) relative to vehicle floor	Restore ex-factory installation position. Drive-train vibrations can otherwise occur.
7	Remove bolts (1a)	Tightening procedure for rear propeller shaft to transfer case	AR41.10-P-0050-17GZ
		Observe tightening procedure. Self-locking screw/bolt of propeller shaft at transfer case/adapter housing (to rear axle)	*BA41.10-P-1001-01F

8	Remove bolts (1b)	The flexible coupling (3) remains on the drive shaft (1). Self-locking screw/bolt on rear propeller shaft/rear axle differential	*BA41.10-P-1002-01F
9	Release pilot bushing of flexible coupling (3)	Drift for releasing the fitting sleeves in the flexible couplings If necessary.	WF58.50-P-4110-01A
10	Unscrew bolts (1c) and remove propeller shaft (1) downward	Do not kink the propeller shaft (1). Otherwise, the seal boot on the propeller shaft intermediate bearing (2) will be damaged. Secure propeller shaft (1) against falling down. Bolt, propeller shaft intermediate bearing to frame floor assembly	*BA41.40-P-1001-01C
	Check
11	Check flexible coupling (3)	Check for cracking, fraying, wear, damage and deformation; replace if necessary.
12	Install in the reverse order
