Remove/Install Front Axle Carrier Bearing - AR33.10-P-0040-01GZ

Instructions valid for each bearing. All the illustrations show the front right bearing.

Removal: 

1. Knock off vibration damper (1d) with drift (01) through hole of bearing (1a).

   Only when replacing bearing (1a).

2. Connect hand pump (01h) and hollow cylinder (01z) with hydraulic hose (01s).
3. Install extraction and insertion tool part A (02A) on hollow cylinder (01z).

   Fit two shims (03w) and pilot bushing (03f) onto threaded rod (03s).

4. Swivel gripper arms of extraction and insertion tool, part A (02A) away from hollow cylinder (01z).
5. Place prepared threaded rod (03s) and extraction and insertion device part B (02B) in working area.
6. Place extraction and insertion device part B (02B) onto bearing (1a).
7. Attach hollow cylinder (01z) to axle carrier (5).
8. Insert threaded rod (03s) from below through hollow cylinder (01z) and bearing (1a) and bolt using extraction and insertion device part B (02B).
9. Mark position of bearing web (arrow).
10. Press out bearing (1a) downwards.

    Secure hollow cylinder (01z); for this purpose, consult an assistant.

    Installation: 

11. Clean bearing seat in axle carrier (5).
12. Connect hand pump (01h) and hollow cylinder (01z) with hydraulic hose (01s).
13. Install extraction and insertion tool part A (02A) on hollow cylinder (01z).
14. Fit two shims (03w), spacer sleeve (03d) and pilot bushing (03f) to threaded rod (03s).
15. Swivel gripper arms of extraction and insertion tool part A (02A) towards hollow cylinder (01z).
16. Coat bearing (1a) with lubricant and push from below into axle carrier (5).

    Installation position: Observe position of bearing web or marking on axle carrier (5).

17. Place extraction and insertion device part D (02D) onto axle carrier (5).
18. Insert prepared threaded rod through hollow cylinder (01z).
19. Fit extraction and insertion device part C (02C) onto threaded rod (03s).
20. Attach hollow cylinder (01z) with threaded rod, extraction and insertion device part C (02C) and bearing (1a) to axle carrier (5) and bolt on using extraction and insertion device part D (02D).

    Press cutouts of extraction and insertion tool part C (02C) into collar or bar of bearing (1a).

21. Press in bearing (1a) upwards into axle carrier (5).
22. Release hollow cylinder (01z).
23. Unscrew extraction and insertion device part D (02D) from threaded rod (03s).

    Secure hollow cylinder (01z); for this purpose, consult an assistant.

24. Place vibration damper (1d) on inner race of bearing (1a).

    Secure hollow cylinder (01z); for this purpose, consult an assistant.

    Only for work on the front bearing (1a).

    Installation position: Cutouts of mass damper (1d) towards bearing (1a).

25. Place extraction and insertion device part B (02B) onto mass damper (1d) and bolt on to threaded rod (03s).

    Only for work on the front bearing (1a).

26. Place vibration damper (1d) on inner race of bearing (1a).

    Only for work on the front bearing (1a).

27. Remove special tools.
