Location
The AIRmatic control unit is installed in the front left footwell.
Tasks
The AIRmatic control unit has the following tasks:
- Reading in of signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Actuation of components
Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in over the following connections:
- Direct lines
- Chassis CAN 1 (CAN E1)
Direct lines
The following components are read in via direct lines:
- Terminal 30g
- Circuit 31
- Left rear level sensor (B22/7)
- Left front level sensor (B22/8)
- Right front level sensor (B22/9)
- Right rear level sensor (B22/10)
- Left front body acceleration sensor (B24/3)
- Right front body acceleration sensor (B24/4)
- Left rear body acceleration sensor (B24/6)
- AIRmatic pressure sensor (Y36b1)
Chassis CAN 1
The AIRmatic control unit is a subscriber on chassis CAN 1 and receives signals from the following control units:
- Lower control panel control unit (N72), via the center console switch LIN (LIN B12), the SAM control unit (N10), the interior CAN (CAN B), and the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73), the status of the vehicle level button (N72s35) (except CODE 430 (On & off-road package)) or the vehicle level rotary switch (N72s39) (with CODE 430 (On & off-road package))
- Transmission modes control panel (N72/4) (with CODE 430 (On & off-road package)), via the center console switch LIN, the SAM control unit, the interior CAN, the electronic ignition lock control unit, the chassis CAN 1, and the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) (with gasoline engine) or CDI control unit (N3/9) (with diesel engine) the status of the transmission mode control (N72/4s1) (with CODE 430 (On & off-road package))
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the affected components are then actuated.
Actuation of components
Components are actuated with the following lines:
- Direct lines
- Chassis CAN 1
Direct lines
The following components are actuated via direct lines:
- AIRmatic pressure reduction valve (A9/1y1)
- AIRmatic relay (F58kT)
- Left front level control valve (Y36y1)
- Right front level control valve (Y36y2)
- Left rear level control valve (Y36y3)
- Right rear level control valve (Y36y4)
- AIRmatic central reservoir charge valve (Y36y5)
- Left front axle damping valve unit (Y51)
- Right front axle damping valve unit (Y52)
- Left rear axle damping valve unit (Y53)
- Right rear axle damping valve unit (Y54)
Chassis CAN 1
The AIRMATIC control unit is a subscriber on chassis CAN 1 and sends signals to the following control units:
- Instrument cluster (A1), via the electronic ignition lock control unit and chassis CAN 2 (CAN E2)
- SAM control unit
- Active roll stabilization control unit (N51/6)
- Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4)
- CDI control unit (with diesel engine)
