Deploy Supplemental Restraint System, Basic Function - GF91.60-P-1003A

Overview 

This document contains the following information:

General 

The SRS assesses various input factors and triggers the corresponding restraint equipment in the event of an accident.

Function requirement 

Triggering the SRS 

The triggering of the restraint equipment takes place depending on the severity of the impact, the occupation of the front passenger seat and the status of the seat belts (fastened or unfastened).

The following conditions are taken into account in the case of frontal impact: 

The following conditions are taken into account in the event of a side impact: 

The following conditions are taken into account in the event of a rear impact: 

The following conditions are taken into account in the event of a vehicle rollover: 

The status of the seat belts (fastened or unfastened) is recorded by a switch in the respective seat belt buckle.

The following table lists the component parts marked with "X", which can be ultimately triggered for the respective accident scenarios.

IMPORTANT The front passenger airbag is designed with two stages. As a result, the deployment of the airbag can be regulated.

Vehicles with alternative refrigerant and gasoline engine 

If inerting is triggered, Argon inert gas flows out of a gas cylinder into the engine compartment. This displaces the atmospheric oxygen in areas close to the engine that present a fire hazard. The risk of a fire caused by refrigerant flowing out of the air conditioning system is reduced.
